Sometimes you do have to stop and remind yourself that this is Cyprus. People travel so far and spend many thousands of Euros in search of snow and winter skiing, we have this right on our doorstep in amazing Cyprus. Our skiing season can be short lived and our slopes a little small, but we promise from our own experiences it's still a very magical experience to ski in Cyprus. The views from the top of mount Olympus are simply breathtaking.
Access to the slopes is just so easy too, from the easy short drive from Limassol, to buying your ski pass which is only €15 for the day, to the free parking in Troodos square and at the Dias restaurant. We highly recommend the whole experience.
Some tips that will help make your skiing experience in Cyprus more enjoyable.
- Weekend can be very busy, especially from around 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. We highly recommend you avoid weekends and visit the slopes during the week, you will have a much nicer experience.
- 4 x 4 vehicles in our opinion is a must for safety. We do see a lot of people taking small standard hire cars to the resort, in our view not only are they a danger to themselves, but to others too. Sure you can add snow chains as we saw some had done, but these small cars are too low to the ground to get through deep snow safely, even with snow chains.
- Take change for the toilets, €0.50c per visit when using the restaurant.
- A ski helmet is a must. On the smaller slopes of Sun Valley, Aphrodite and Hermes slopes there are junctions that have fast skiing traffic that crosses each other, do not expect beginner skiers crossing your pass to be able to stop. Protective proper ski clothing, helmet and ski goggles is highly recommended, as it would be on any ski slopes anywhere in the world.
Cyprus ski resort is just 40 minutes drive from Limassol seafront and offers easy access to snow sports and skiing. We highly recommend it!
